Our Approach to Vein Stripping Surgery
Vein Stripping Surgery
During varicose vein stripping surgery, our skilled surgeons utilize surgical techniques to address the underlying issues causing varicose veins. Through small incisions, damaged veins are carefully stripped, promoting improved blood circulation and alleviating the symptoms associated with varicose veins. The outpatient nature of the procedure means you can enjoy the benefits of this transformative surgery without the need for a hospital stay.
What to Expect with Vein Stripping Surgery
Before the Procedure:
- Your healthcare provider will explain the procedure to you. Ensure you tell them your medications, allergies and any health conditions prior to the procedure.
- Take all your usual medications unless instructed otherwise
- You will need to fast from midnight, before the surgery
During the Procedure:
- Register at the hospital central registration at least 2 hours prior to your surgical start time (you will be instructed by the office)
- Please bring a list of your medications
- You will be seen by the pre-anesthetic team and given instructions, then transported to the operating room
After the Procedure:
- A full length tensor wrap will be applied to the treated leg.
- The compression should be kept on during the day and night for the first 48hrs (you may take them off briefly to shower). Subsequently, the compression should be kept on during the day, for 14 days
- You may resume normal activity, but avoid exercise for at least 4 weeks after the procedure
- Please avoid: travel within 2 weeks of the procedure, hot tubs, strenuous physical activity for 4 weeks after the procedure
- For the first 48hrs, you may have a small amount of bleeding/staining of the dressings. If the dressing becomes soaked, or if the bleeding is continuous, apply pressure and call the office for instructions.
- There will be bruising, swelling and tenderness in the leg and incisions after the procedure. This should improve over the course of 2 weeks.

Our Approach to Microphlebectomies
Microphlebectomies
Microphlebectomies are a minimally invasive procedure designed to address smaller and isolated varicose veins with precision and efficiency. This technique involves the removal of superficial isolated varicose veins through tiny incisions, utilizing specialized instruments to gently extract the affected vessels. By minimizing incision size and employing meticulous surgical precision, microphlebectomy not only offers cosmetic benefits but also ensures a swift recovery with minimal scarring. This is an outpatient procedure and is performed under a local anesthetic.
What to Expect with Microphlebectomies

- Do not apply creams or lotions prior to the procedure
- Do not drink coffee or tea on the day of the procedure
During the Procedure:
- Register at the hospital central registration at least 30 minutes prior to your surgical start time (you will be instructed by the office)
